On 1 February, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Lithuania Eduardas Borisov, residing in Zagreb, presented his letters of credence to the President of Montenegro Jakov Milatović.

In his conversation with the President, the Ambassador noted that Lithuania strongly supported the efforts of Montenegro and its new government towards faster membership of the European Union and was ready to continue to share the experience of EU integration.

According to the Ambassador, Montenegro is an ally of Lithuania within the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation. Both NATO countries face the same security challenges and stand united in defending the international order based on rules and democratic values. Russia’s aggression against Ukraine has highlighted the fragility of peace in Europe, so we need to remain united and decisive in strengthening Europe’s security against Russia, stopping its aggression and tirelessly supporting Ukraine.

Borisovas also emphasised that Lithuania was ready to intensify bilateral relations and increase mutual knowledge and cooperation and pointed to the need to rap into the potential of both countries developing cooperation on issues of digitalisation, green technologies and cybersecurity, which Lithuania was ready to share.
