Lithuania’s Foreign Minister Landsbergis to attend the EU’s Foreign Affairs Council

On 23 January in Brussels, Lithuania’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Gabrielius Landsbergis will attend the EU’s Foreign Affairs Council.

The Council will exchange views on Russia’s military aggression against Ukraine and the Sahel and coastal countries of West Africa. The Council meeting will focus on foreign policy issues: Afghanistan, the Armenian-Azerbaijani border, Ethiopia, Iran, Montenegro and Venezuela.

EU foreign affairs ministers will discuss the situation in Ukraine, the EU’s support for this country, including the European Peace Facility’s new packages, preparations for the Ukraine-EU summit, Russia’s accountability for atrocities in Ukraine, food security and engagement with third countries. The Council will also exchange views on Ukraine’s 10-point peace plan.

Given the poor security, economic and humanitarian situation in the Sahel and coastal countries of West Africa, foreign affairs ministers will discuss the EU’s further steps in the region.
