Ambassador R. Šlepavičius participated at the Conference “Discover Lithuania”
“Lithuania is the economic gateway to North, Baltic and East Central Europe regions“– said Ambassador of the Republic of Lithuania to Italy, Mr. R. Šlepavičius, inviting entrepreneurs and residents from Apulia region to take a closer look at Lithuania and the opportunities it provides.
On November 29 – 30, 2017, Ambassador of the Republic of Lithuania, Mr. R. Šlepavičius, represented Lithuania in Ceglie Messapica at the Conference “Discover Lithuania”, that was initiated by the Lithuania’s Honorary Consul in Taranto Giuseppe Saracino. The event offered an excellent opportunity to increase the knowledge about Lithuania – to possess a basic familiarity with the history, culture, business opportunities.
Welcoming the guests of the Conference, Ambassador R. Šlepavičius expressed his delight that in today’s world the geographical distance has become less constraining for the cooperation among countries. Today the capital of Puglia, Bari, and the capital of Lithuania, Vilnius, are connected by direct flights. “This is why we are not thousands of kilometers but only a couple of hours apart” – said Ambassador R. Šlepavičius.
Head of the Lithuanian Diplomatic Mission in Italy also underlined that the economy of Lithuania, that next year will be commemorating the 100th anniversary of the restoration of the state, is one of the fastest growing EU Member States economies, and that many Lithuanians speak a few foreign languages. He invited Apulia’s and other Italian regions residents to come and explore Lithuania. “There you will see not only Vilnius Baroque jewels, that warm the hearts of Italians, but many other historical places. You will find great conditions for the business, as well. Lithuania is the economic gateway to North, Baltic and East Central Europe regions. Use this opportunity“– said Ambassador. R. Slepavicius.
The Conference brought together the Mayor of Ceglie Messapica, representatives of business and tourism sector, journalists. After the event, the traditional Lithuanian dishes and drinks were presented.
During the visit in Apulia, on November 30, Ambassador R. Slepavicius also met with the Mayor of Lecce and participated in signing the cooperation protocol between the Cultural Institute of Salento and the honorary consul Saracino, who will mediate with partners from Lithuania. Ambassador R. Slepavicius also visited the International Cordella Fashion School, led by Lithuanian Indre Matutyte – Cordella, and the Clothes Design Museum that was established in 17th century by this School.
