The work of Jonas Mekas will be presented in Bergamo Film Festival

Another cultural event dedicated to the Celebration of the Centennial of the Restoration of Statehood of Lithuania in 2018 was discussed today by Ambassador Ričardas Šlepavičius and Chiara Boffelli, program manager of Bergamo Film Meeting.

The visitors of Bergamo Film Meeting will have a unique opportunity to attend a personal exhibition of Jonas Mekas, a world-renowned visual artist. Lasting for 6 days from 10 to 15 March 2018 at the Palazzo della Ragione, the exhibition is expecting the attendance of the Legend of Anthology Film Archives, Jonas Mekas himself, at the opening ceremony on 9 March 2018.

Jonas Mekas (born 1922) – a U.S. filmmaker, artist and curator of Lithuanian origin, considered as the godfather of American avant-garde film, is highly regarded by Italian avant-garde cinema and culture lovers and is often cited as the pioneer of video blogging. Currently living and working in New York.

Bergamo Film Meeting festival will be held for the 36th time and is one of two film festivals in Italy supported by the EU. During this festival over 160 movies are shown and attract around 60 000 visitors. The festival does not only offer film screenings, but presents to the audience a broad 10-day long cultural program as well.
